13. Thunderbird Falls. Thunderbird Falls is one of Alaska's most famous waterfalls, falling 200 feet down a gap in the Chugach State Park foothills. You can see the falls from a viewing platform, located up a short (and occasionally steep) one-mile hike through a beautiful birch woodland beside the Eklutna River.

Thunderbird Falls, Eklutna This 200-foot waterfall is one of the most visited in Alaska. It can be accessed via a one-mile trail above the Eklutna River and boasts a beautiful viewing deck. The falls can be reached year-round, but cleats or spikes on shoes are recommend in winter as the trail can be slippery, especially on the initial brief climb.
